Position Overview

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) help individuals cope and solve problems in their day-to-day living, such as; mental illness, physical and emotional abuse, substance abuse, marriage counseling, children and family counseling. RMHCI's work as advocates, help clients gain access to resources, while helping them confront their issues. The LCSW must have excellent work ethics, communication skills and engage in a team approach to care.

Essential Job Functions

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform intake evaluations and scheduling therapy and medication management appointments.
  • Performs counseling and/or psychotherapy.
  • Develops and utilize a network of referral resources when internal resources are not available or appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records, including clinical progress notes, according to facility policy
  • Provides positive customer relations in dealing with patients, families, physicians, member of the healthcare team, referral sources, services agencies and others.
  • Requires ability to work under stressful situations with an emotional resilience and stability since the work demands high concentration and often involves dealing with crises.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of people
  • Consistent attendance is required to assure that the facilities' and patient needs are met.
  • Uphold standards of excellence to maintain and enhance the organizations reputation in the community and beyond.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Hold a master's degree in counseling/related field, have a Board-approved supervisor, and are registered with the Florida Department of Health to provide counseling services under supervision
  • Proficient with computers, understanding of email and attachments, strong typing skills and telemedicine.

Able to operate telephone, copier, and other basic business machines.

  • Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and policies
  • Understanding of documentation as it pertains to the healthcare industry

Job Context

Majority of the responsibilities will take place at Dura Medical's Facility, however some telemedicine appointments are sometimes encouraged and desired. Hours are Monday-

Friday 9am to 6pm; however, individual schedules may vary. Our corporate culture is positive, encouraging and teamwork oriented.
